"Andor" breaks out hearts and, slowly but surely, puts them back together (only to break them all over again).

Warning: Spoilers for the series follow.
When future histories of television are written, I’m fairly certain that Andor will be spoken about as not just one of the very best pieces of drama to have emerged out of the Star Wars IP behemoth but also as one of the very best TV series of the 21st century. Lest you think that I’m being hyperbolic, I encourage you to take a few hours to watch episodes 6-9. These are some truly terrific pieces of television storytelling, expertly paced and powerfully performed.
Part of the show’s greatness, to be sure, comes from the series’ relevance to our own political moment. Unless you’re currently living under a rock, it’s impossible not to see the many actions of the Trump administration and its enablers as quite similar to what’s unfolding in the Galaxy during the second season of Andor. Just as the Empire has those who are willing to either completely buy into its purposes or turn a blind eye to what they don’t want to see, so there are people in our own world who are willing to either excuse or defend Trump, Musk, and their minions.
One can only hope that Andor’s ultimate endpoint–the overthrow of the Empire and the restoration of the Republic–maps onto our own future.
But anyway, back to Andor.
